Chicken strips, also known as chicken tenders or chicken fingers, are a popular snack or appetizer. They consist of boneless chicken pieces that are breaded and fried until they are golden brown and crispy. Here’s a basic recipe for making chicken strips:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast or chicken tenders
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (you can use seasoned or plain)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Chicken: Cut the chicken into strips of roughly equal size. You can make them as thick or thin as you prefer.
  2. Prepare Breading Stations: Set up three shallow bowls or plates. In one, place the flour. In the second, beat the eggs. In the third, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese (if using), salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Coat the Chicken: Take a piece of chicken, dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs. Place the coated chicken strip on a baking sheet or plate.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat about 1/2 inch (1.3cm) of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C). You can also use a deep fryer if you have one.
  1. Fry the Chicken Strips: Carefully add the chicken strips to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until the chicken is cooked through and the breading is golden and crispy. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).
  2. Drain and Serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried chicken strips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  3. Serve: Serve your chicken strips hot with your favorite dipping sauces. Popular options include ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or ranch dressing.
