Crispy Honey-Glazed Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • For the Chicken:
    • ¼ cup cornstarch
    • 2 eggs, beaten
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • Oil for frying
  • For the Honey Sauce:
    • ⅓ cup honey
    • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce or Tamari sauce
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
    • 1 tbsp brown sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • ¼ cup sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Begin by placing eggs in a bowl and stirring until blended.
  2. In a plate, combine flour and cornstarch, stirring until fully incorporated.
  3. Heat about 3 inches of oil in a deep frying pan.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat it with the flour mixture.
  5. Carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil and fry for 4 to 5 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain the fried chicken on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. While the chicken is frying, prepare the honey sauce. In a pan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
  8. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow it to cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  9. Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat and pour it over the crispy chicken.
  10. Garnish the dish with sesame seeds before serving.
