Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and Cheese Ingredients:

  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 6 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Instructions:

  1. Boil pasta according to package directions.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in flour and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add garlic salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Slowly pour in 4 cups of milk, whisking until smooth.
  6. Heat to a low boil until thickened. Remove from heat.
  7. Add hot pasta to a greased 9×13″ baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle 6 cups shredded cheese over pasta.
  9. Pour the thickened cream sauce over the pasta and cheese.
  10. Let sit until the cheese has melted, then stir together.
  11. Melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  12. Add bread crumbs, stirring constantly until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  13. Pour over the mac and cheese.
  14. Bake at 325°F for 14-15 minutes.
  15. Serve warm.
