- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp sugar (to balance acidity)
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne (if using), Worcestershire sauce, and sugar.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the chili and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Serve: Serve hot, garnished with shredded cheese, diced onions, or sour cream if desired.
