Savory Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 pounds of beef cubes
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bottle (340 ml) of beer
  • 4 cups of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and sliced

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Brown the beef cubes on all sides, then transfer them to a plate and set aside.
  2. In the same saucepan, add diced onions and cook until translucent, stirring occasionally. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Pour in the beer and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  4. Return the browned beef cubes to the saucepan. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Thirty minutes before the stew is done, add diced potatoes and sliced carrots. Cover and continue to simmer until the vegetables are tender and the beef is cooked through.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting beef stew with your favorite crusty bread or over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes.

Note: Feel free to customize the stew by adding your favorite vegetables or herbs. You can also adjust the seasoning according to your taste preference.
