Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture.
- Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 20-24 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball by pulling the edges under and pinching them together at the bottom.
- Place the dough balls in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, close together but not touching.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the shaped rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the Rolls:
- Brush the tops of the risen rolls with melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
- Final Touch:
- Brush the freshly baked rolls with more melted butter for an extra soft and flavorful crust.
- Serve:
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
