Fluffy Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
    • Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
    • Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture.
    • Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 20-24 equal pieces.
    • Shape each piece into a ball by pulling the edges under and pinching them together at the bottom.
    • Place the dough balls in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, close together but not touching.
  5. Second Rise:
    • Cover the shaped rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
  6. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake the Rolls:
    • Brush the tops of the risen rolls with melted butter.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
  8. Final Touch:
    • Brush the freshly baked rolls with more melted butter for an extra soft and flavorful crust.
  9. Serve:
    • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
