Golden Luqaimat: A Sweet Delight

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Warm water (enough to form a thick batter)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Date syrup or honey for drizzling
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
    • Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients until the mixture forms a smooth and thick batter.
    • Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about an hour, until the batter doubles in size and is bubbly.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. You need enough oil to allow the dough balls to float freely.
  3. Fry the Luqaimat:
    • Once the oil is hot, wet your hands with some water and pick up small portions of the batter to form small balls. Drop them gently into the hot oil.
    • Fry the dough balls until golden brown, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  4. Serving:
    • Drain the Luqaimat on paper towels to remove excess oil.
    • Drizzle with date syrup or honey and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  5. Enjoy:
