Cinnamon Sugar-Coated Fried Dough Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons butter, cold and cubed
    • 3/4 cup milk
  • Frying:
    • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or sunflower oil)
  • Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Gradually add the milk, stirring until the dough comes together. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.
  2. Shape the Dough Bites:
    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it becomes smooth.
    • Roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a walnut.
  3. Heat the Oil:
    • In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there’s enough oil to submerge the dough bites.
  4. Fry the Dough Bites:
    • Carefully drop a few dough balls into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried dough bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
    • In a shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
    • While the dough bites are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are well coated.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the cinnamon sugar-coated fried dough bites warm. They are perfect for a sweet snack or dessert.

Enjoy your delicious cinnamon sugar-coated fried dough bites!
