Blueberry Cream Cheese Pastries Recipe

Ingredients

For the Pastries:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  2. Assemble the Pastries:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases.
    • Cut the puff pastry into 9 equal squares.
    • Place about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square, then top with a few blueberries.
    • Fold two opposite corners of each square over the filling to the center, pressing gently to seal.
  3. Bake the Pastries:
    • Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet.
    • Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
  4. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the pastries to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature.
