Best Pioneer Apple Dumplings

Here’s a recipe inspired by the Pioneer Woman for delicious apple dumplings:

Ingredients:

For the Dumplings:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 ounces) lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7UP)

For Serving:

  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)
  • Caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each apple into 8 slices, yielding 16 slices total.
  3. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll dough triangle, starting from the wider end, and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined and the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Pour the butter mixture over the dumplings in the baking dish.
  6. Pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the baking dish, but not over the dumplings.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. Serve the apple dumplings warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Enjoy your homemade Pioneer Woman-inspired apple dumplings! They’re perfect for a cozy dessert on a chilly evening.
