Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 300g all-purpose flour
- 40g sugar
- 2g salt
- 7g dry yeast
- 1 egg
- 140ml warm milk
- 40g cream cheese
- 30g butter
For the Custard Filling:
- 300g custard
Feel free to experiment with ingredient replacements. For instance, you can opt for whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour for a richer flavor. For a lighter alternative, consider substituting Greek yogurt for cream cheese in the dough.
Directions:
- Mixing the Dough: In a bowl, blend warm milk, sugar, yeast, egg, and cream cheese until well combined.
- Adding Dry Ingredients: Integrate all-purpose flour and salt into the mixture. Knead the dough until it attains a smooth consistency.
- Incorporating Butter: Knead the soft butter into the dough and let it rest for 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Dividing and Shaping: Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Filling with Custard: Flatten each dough ball and add a tablespoon of custard. Seal the edges by pinching them together.
- Resting Time: Allow the filled dough balls to rest for 30 minutes to enable them to rise.
- Arranging in the Pan: Slightly roll out each ball and place them on a round, overlapping baking pan.
- Final Rise and Baking: Let the assembled balls rise for an additional hour. Bake at 160°C/320°F for 30 minutes. Brush with butter before serving.
