DIY Cucumber Face Cream Recipe
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: Approximately 1 small jar (about 4 oz)
Ingredients:
- 1 small cucumber (peeled and grated)
- 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (melted)
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax pellets
- 5-7 drops of essential oil (optional, such as lavender or tea tree)
- 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil (optional, acts as a preservative)
- 1 tablespoon of distilled water (optional for a lighter consistency)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cucumber:
- Peel and grate the cucumber. Place the grated cucumber in a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth and press to extract the juice. You should get about 2-3 tablespoons of cucumber juice.
- Melt the Base Ingredients:
- In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a pot of simmering water, add the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax pellets. Stir until everything is melted and combined.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- Remove the melted mixture from heat. Slowly add the cucumber juice while stirring continuously. Ensure the juice is well incorporated.
- Add the aloe vera gel, essential oil (if using), and vitamin E oil. Continue to stir until everything is well combined. If you want a lighter consistency, add the distilled water at this point and mix thoroughly.
- Cool and Store:
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then transfer it to a small, sterilized jar or container.
- Allow the cream to cool completely before sealing the jar.
Usage:
- Apply a small amount to your face after cleansing, preferably in the evening. This cream is particularly soothing and hydrating, thanks to the cucumber’s natural anti-inflammatory properties.
Storage:
- Store the cream in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, especially if you didn’t use vitamin E oil. The cold temperature also adds a refreshing cooling effect when applied to the skin.
Enjoy your homemade cucumber face cream!
